This week at Northwood we are celebrating our last days of the school year, but we also wanted to take a moment and acknowledge a few staff members who have already or are retiring after this school year. Thank you Laura Braasch for her 25 1/2 years of service at Northwood, Chris Holland for her 4 1/2 years of service to Northwood, and Suzanne Patterson for her 4 years of service to Northwood (coming out of retirement from another district and re-retiring). Rick Moravec and Jimmy Smith are also part of this retiree crew. We truly appreciate all they have done for students throughout their careers in education!

Students in Biology recently modeled natural selection by posing as "Woolyboogers" (fictitious birds with a variety of beak shapes) for survival on islands stocked with a variety of foods. They determined that the Spoon-Beaked Woolybooger was effective at competing for popcorn kernels and goldfish crackers, while the Chopstick-Beaked Woolybooger was more effective at competing for pretzels and puff corn. The Needle-Beaked and Clothespin-Beaked Woolyboogers were also able to find their ecological niches in which they could survive.

Students in Human Anatomy and Physiology are busy applying everything they have learned this year as they dissect fetal pigs. This is an invaluable chance for them to observe the overall anatomy of an organism and see how interconnected the systems they have been learning about actually are.

Due to scheduling conflicts, tonight's piano recital will be rescheduled to a students showcase during the Minong Summer Days.
